The Government of Canada adopts this management plan (Part 2) under section 69 of the Species at Risk Act (SARA). In the spirit of cooperation of the Accord, the Management Plan for the Dolphin and Union Caribou ( Rangifer tarandus groenlandicus x pearyi) in the Northwest Territories and Nunavut was prepared jointly by the Government of Nunavut and the Government of the Northwest Territories, in cooperation with the Government of Canada and co-management partners. Under the Accord for the Protection of Species at Risk (1996), the federal, provincial, and territorial governments agreed to work together on legislation, programs, and policies to protect wildlife species at risk throughout Canada.
